Museum Galleries

The twelve museum galleries tell the narrative of humanity via an artistic lens and are arranged chronologically in an appealing way. Each of these 12 chapters reveals similarities that have persisted throughout human history through an amazing array of art installations.

Exhibitions

Every year, the Louvre holds four temporary exhibitions. These exhibits are the outcome of a special partnership between France and Abu Dhabi. The Louvre Abu Dhabi will present outstanding art to Middle Eastern tourists in collaboration with 13 partners from the French Museum.

Loans and new acquisitions

Claude Monet’s Haystacks, End of Summer, Osman Hamdi Bey’s Old Man in Front of Children’s Tombs, and Vincent van Gogh’s Caravans, Gipsy Camp near Arles are among the recently borrowed pieces. Southern Landscape by Pierre Bonnard and The Bellelli Family by Edgar Degas are also on display. Explore the works of Georges Hanna Sabbagh to learn about the Arab world’s contribution to post-impressionism. His distinct cultural viewpoint unites Egyptian and French art, providing a novel interpretation of identity and family in Paris throughout the 20th century.

• To preserve the installations, the galleries are kept at a comparatively cold temperature. For children in particular, you might wish to think about packing a stole or scarf.

What is prohibited

• In certain locations with delicate displays, flash photography is prohibited.
• It is highly forbidden to bring food or water into the galleries.
• Backpacks and luggage are prohibited inside the museum for security reasons. You can store your possessions in the designated cloakroom.

• Wheelchairs and strollers can be used to access this experience. On request, strollers and wheelchairs are available.
• Pregnant women, those with mobility disabilities, and children under six should not go on the kayak excursion.
