The Engineering Behind the World’s Tallest Building

The Burj Khalifa was designed by Adrian Smith, of the Chicago-based architectural group Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (SOM). The striking architecture is at the heart of the 2-square-kilometre Downtown Dubai development and showcases a Y-shaped floor plate providing maximum use for both commercial and residential use while also providing excellent structural rigour.

The architects of the tower employed palatable engineering techniques using a concrete core with a structural steel spire to achieve the iconic height. To reduce solar gain and mitigate the extreme heat of the desert, the building’s facade incorporates stainless steel and reflective aluminum cladding. This will promote a more liveable environment for the Armani Hotel, corporate suites, and luxury apartments.

Burj Khalifa Observation Decks & Experiences

The Burj Khalifa allows you to see stunning views from three observation decks – At the Top, At the Top SKY, and The Lounge. Each deck aims to provide a unique and unforgettable experience while seeing the breathtaking views of Dubai’s skyline and beyond.

At the Top Burj Khalifa Tickets (Levels 124 & 125)

The elevator at Burj Khalifa will take you to the observation deck on the 124th floor, located 452 meters above the ground, in one minute. Level 124 has two parts, an open-air viewing deck and an inside area with floor-to-ceiling glass. The highest power telescopes provide clear views of the landscape and landmarks that the city has to offer.

To get to level 125, you can take the stairs to the observation deck, also called “Dubai – A Falcon’s Eye View,” which offers a breathtaking 360-degree view. In addition, there is also a virtual reality game on this level where the glass appears to break beneath you.

At The Top SKY Entrance (Level 148)

To truly feel like the king of the world, make the journey to the 148th floor, Burj Khalifa’s single observation deck that is accessible from Level 124. If you’ve never been 555 meters off the ground, the view is simply sensational. Level 148 is usually not as busy with visitors either, so if there is a time to escape the crowd and soak in a little sun, this is your option. The ticket provides you with a VIP experience with a personal tour, a luxury lounge, and a life-size motion-sensing interactive experience.

The Lounge at Burj Khalifa (Levels 152, 153 & 154)

“The Lounge” is the ultimate luxury experience. The Lounge includes levels 152, 153, and 154, as well as the lower observation decks. At 585 meters tall, it is the highest lounge in the world, surpassing the previously tallest building, Taipei 101.

The menu includes fine dining options and consists of delicate foods such as foie gras, billionaire sliders, beer-braised wild mushrooms, blue lobster, and other culinary delights.

The pricing is based on your order, and a minimum spend is dependent on the time of day, based on whether you are seated in a window or a non-window table. The spend is AED 350 for non-window tables for lunch AED 500 for non-window dinner. Window tables minimum spend is AED 500 for lunch and AED 850 for dinner. Breakfast menu minimum amounts start at AED 450 per person.

• General Information: Enter through the Dubai Mall to get to the Burj Khalifa.
• By Metro: Take the Red Line Metro to the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station.
• By Bus: Routes 27 and 29 service the Dubai Mall, every 16 minutes.
• By Taxi: The least economical, but fastest, method.
